Terps Fall To James Madison, 10-3

HARRISONBURG, Va.- Junior left-handed pitcher Adam Wynegar earned his second win of the season, and the top five batters in the order accounted for 11 hits as James Madison defeated Maryland 10-3 in non-conference college baseball Tuesday afternoon at JMU's Long Field/Mauck Stadium.

The Dukes improved to 11-6-1 overall. The Terps dropped their fifth straight and fell to 4-9.

JMU sophomore third baseman Brent Metheny extended his multiple-hit hitting streak to six games with a 3-for-4 outing and one RBI. Senior center fielder Greg Miller, who has hit safely in 17 of the Dukes' 18 games, added two hits and drove in two runs. Junior left fielder Steve Ballowe went 2-for-4 with an RBI for his 10th multiple-hit game of the season and upped his team-leading batting average to .466 and RBI total to 19.

Senior left fielder Brian Patenaude (Marietta, Ga.) and senior first baseman Chuck Easter (Baltimore, Md.) had two hits apiece for the Terps. Senior second baseman Sean Lomas (Brewster, N.Y.) connected for a two-run homer.

Junior center fielder Matt Swope (New Carrollton, Md.) went 0-for-5 on the day, which snapped his career-best 11-game hitting streak. Junior catcher Kevin McDonald (Rockaway, N.J.) extended his career-high hitting streak to nine games by going 1-for-3.

The Terps are back in action tomorrow, March 14, when they host Coppin State. The action is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Shipley Field.
