COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) at University of Maryland has begun an exciting and new community service program whereby fans and student-athletes can join forces to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank.
At the school's Midnight Madness festivities, to take place at Comcast Center on Friday, Oct. 11, Maryland student-athletes will be accepting donations outside the building for other students and Terps fans who wish to donate.
The president of Maryland's S.A.A.C. is none other than men's basketball senior Tahj Holden, who, later in the evening, will join his defending national champion teammates in their first practice of the 2002-03 season.
The 2001 Midnight Madness Can Food Drive Program was a community service project where students, alumni, and fans could donate canned foods for the less fortunate and under-privilege in the community. Last year, Student-Athletes collected 1,262 pounds of canned foods to be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.
