The University of Maryland took both games of a doubleheader from the University at Buffalo today, defeating the Bulls 6-1 in the first game and 13-2 in the second. Chris Clem earned his first win of the season with a dominant pitching performance in game one.
Clem threw the first complete game of his career and shattered his previous career-high strikeout performance (8) by punching out 15 batters. He surrendered one run on six hits without issuing a walk.
On the other side of the plate, the Terps (3-6) knocked home their six runs with 11 hits. Mike Costantino led the way with three RBI on a 2-for-4 performance. Jason Maxey, Elliot Singletary and Anthony Buffone also had multiple-hit games.
Maryland got on the board early when Buffone hit an RBI double to knock in the Terps' second at bat of the game. After Buffalo (0-6) tied the game in the second inning with a solo home run, Costantino reclaimed the lead for the Maryland in the third, knocking in Brian Jarosinski with a single.
The Terps expanded their lead in the fifth with Jarosinski hitting an RBI double, followed by a two-run single by Costantino down the right field line. Kevin Hart added another run in the sixth inning giving Maryland the 6-1 lead.
In their second game with Buffalo, the Terrapins put up season highs in runs (13) and hits (18). Seven different Maryland players had multiple hits in the game and 19 Terrapins saw action in the game.

Dan Melvin hit the first home run of his career, sending a two-run shot over the left field wall in the third inning. Jarosinski hit his team-leading third home run of the season in the fourth inning with one man on base. Bobby Ryan and Costantino were the other Terrapins with multiple RBI in the game.

Josh Andrews struck out the three batters he faced, making a relief appearance in the sixth. Chris Bowen, Mike Sharkevich and Dan Waters also pitched scoreless innings in their relief roles.
