COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland baseball team and WMUC Sports, Maryland's student radio outlet, have announced that fans will be able to catch all the action this season, as the station will be broadcasting every home and away game on 88.1 FM and on the web at www.wmucsports.com.
"I am so happy to again have Terps baseball as a staple on WMUC's spring lineup," said WMUC sports director Bret Lasky. ""We are extremely excited to again be carrying every Terps baseball game this season."
In addition, the station has announced an exciting addition to its spring schedule. The Terry Rupp Coaches Show will debut on WMUC this Monday, February 5, at 4:30 p.m. The show will feature in-depth coverage and analysis of Terps baseball, including exclusive commentary from Rupp.
Fans will have the opportunity to ask Rupp questions before and during the broadcast, by e-mailing AskRupp@wmucradio.com. Rupp will respond to questions on the air each week during the half-hour program.
"We hope to provide fans with the most extensive and interesting coverage of Maryland baseball with the addition of the Terry Rupp Show," Lasky said.
CATCH THE TERPS ON THE WEB: ACC Select announced it will offer exclusive online coverage of ACC baseball, marking the first time in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) history that the conference will provide online video streams of the sport's regular season games to a national fan base. Beginning on Feb. 2, ACC Select will carry more than 115 league baseball games - delivering an unprecedented opportunity for fans to watch live and on-demand coverage of a college sport rarely available to watch on television.
Maryland will be featured 11 times on the online video webcasts, including home games against Clemson (March 23), Wake Forest (April 6), Boston College (April 14), Florida State (May 4) and North Carolina (May 18). Terp fans can the Georgia Tech (March 30-April 1) and Virginia (April 27-29) road series on the web site.
Games will be available live and on-demand exclusively at www.accselect.com on a per-event basis ($3.99 per event) or on an All Event Pass (available for a limited time at the introductory price of $5.99 per month).
PRESEASON HONORS CONTINUE FOR CECIL, MELVIN: As the countdown to Opening Day grows shorter, two Terps were honored for their outstanding play. Senior shortstop Dan Melvin and junior reliever Brett Cecil were both named to the second team all-conference squad by SEBaseball.com this week.
Melvin led the Terps in 10 offensive categories last season and is among just three seniors on the 2007 roster. Cecil, a Baseball America second team preseason All-American, set the school record with 13 saves in the 2006 season.
Maryland opens its season on Friday, Feb. 9 as it travels to the Winthrop Challenge in Rock Hill, S.C., where the Terps will face the host Eagles, Gardner-Webb and Creighton in the three-day tournament.
