Maryland women's swimming and diving ended the 2006-07 regular season today with a dual meet in Charlottesville against the University of Virginia. The Terrapins fell to the Cavaliers on the women's side 132-92 bringing the women's overall record to 6-5 and conference record to 3-3.

To open the day, the Terps notched a season-high time in the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.47) for a second-place finish by the team of freshman Andrea Lehner (Orchard Park, N.Y.), senior Sasha Malanina (Volgograd, Russia), senior Gigi deToll (Culpeper, Va.) and sophomore Yelena Skalinskaya (Almaty, Kazakhstan).

Lehner went on to lead Maryland in the 50 freestyle (24.00) with a third-place finish and Skalinskaya swept the 100 free with a time of 51.38.

Freshman Jackie Davidson (Beverly, Mass.) swam to a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (58.70). In the 200 back, Lehner finished in first place with a time of 2:03.29.

In the 100 breaststroke, Maryland claimed the second and third-place positions with senior Katarina Csomova (Komarno, Slovakia) swimming a season best of 1:06.84 and junior Emily Smoak (Salisbury, Md.) finishing with a time of 1:07.35. Csomova also led the Terps in the 200 breast with a time of 2:24.04.

Freshman Patty DeScenza was the top finisher for the Terps in the 100 butterfly, notching a season-best time in the event (58.71). Freshman Annie Broome (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the Terps in the 200 fly with a second-place finish (2:06.40) and Malanina went on to win the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.66.

Maryland finished the day by sweeping the 200 free relay (1:35.59) with the team of Davidson, junior Maya Finkler (Rishon-le-zion, Israel), Skalinskaya and Smoak finishing in first place.

The Terps are now set for post-season action at the 2007 ACC Women's Championships. ACCs for the women will begin on Wednesday, February 14th and will run through Saturday, February 17th in Chapel Hill, N.C.
