ATLANTA, Ga. - The Terrapin men's swimming and diving team opened the 2008 ACC Championships in seventh place at the Georgia Institute of Technology, scoring 48 points.

The Terrapins opened the day with a seventh place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Junior Dong Kim led off the race with a 22.79, while junior Eric Cullen, freshman Nick Cordes and junior Andy Dilz finished with a qualifying NCAA-B cut time of 1:28.79 to give Maryland 24 points. This was the Terps' fastest relay time since before the 2001 ACC Championships.

The Terps added another 24 points in the 800-yard freestyle relay for the Terps' second seventh place finish of the day. Sophomore Aleksandar Damjanic, freshman Kirk Jackson, sophomore Chris Rouchard and sophomore Brian Honore cut off nearly a second from last year's relay team for a time of 6:40.21.

Day two of the ACC Championships resumes Thursday with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 7 p.m.
