Toni Aluko posted a fifth-place finish in the high jump during the first day of competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships to lead University of Maryland performances.
The senior from Burtonsville, Md. jumped for 5-07.00 in the event.
In the shot put, Jillian Anwah had a mark of 44-11.50 to finish sixth. She was followed by teammate Ashley Williams who placed ninth with a mark of 44-03.25.
In the semi-finals of the 60-meter hurdles, Christina Smith ran an 8.70 to head into tomorrow's finals as the eighth seed. In the preliminaries of the event, she had a time of 8.74.
On the men's side, senior Dominic Berger led the way in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.31 and will be the top seed in tomorrow's finals. Teammate Adam Durham also qualified for tomorrow's finals with his tenth-place finish in the event. He had a time of 7.51.
For Maryland, both the men's and women's 4 x 400 relay teams qualified for tomorrow's finals in the event. The ACC Champion men's team of Jeremy Samuels, Kyle Rauser, Anthony Walker and Sean Lowe had a time of 3:12.08 to finish third. The women's foursome of Michelle Fedrick, Crystal Bardge, Tolulope Olugbemi and Kiani Profit had a time of 3:47.54 to finish seventh.
