COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland swimming and diving team opens its season with a pair of conference dual meets at NC State Friday and at Duke Saturday.
The Terps will head to NC State to take on the Wolfpack at 2 p.m. The diving portion will take place on campus at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center while all swimming action will be at the Triangle Aquatic Center in nearby Cary.
Maryland will then trek down the road to Durham for a battle with the Blue Devils Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Terrapin women's team returns 19 letterwinners from last season, including All-Americans Ginny Glover, Megan Lafferty and Annie Fittin. Maryland defeated both NC State and Duke last season in dual meet action.
On the men's side, Maryland welcomes back 14 student-athletes from a year ago, including team captains Andrew Relihan and Mitch Challacombe. The Terps have 12 new faces on the pool deck this season - the largest recruiting class in head coach Sean Schimmel's tenure.
Maryland will kick off its home slate with a dual meet against North Carolina Friday, Oct. 29 at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.
