COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
After a brief hiatus, the Maryland swimming and diving team is back in the pool this weekend to take on intrastate rivals Towson and UMBC Saturday at 1 p.m. at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.
The women's team is seeking its third win of the year after falling to North Carolina on Oct. 29 in its last time out. Ginny Glover and Annie Fittin continue to pace the Terps, racking up team-best times this season in the 200 free and 200 back and 50 free, 100 free and 100 back, respectively. Maryland gave Towson its first loss of the season a year ago.
The men's squad is looking for its first win of the season on Saturday. Senior Mitch Challacombe boasts top Maryland times in the 50 free and 100 back while freshman John Hauser has had a spectacular beginning to his career, shining with team-best marks in the 100 free, 200 free, and 500 free.
Both UMBC teams enter Saturday's action with 2-1 records after defeating Boston University its last time in the pool. The Towson women's team is having another great season, averaging over 200 points with a 6-0 record. The men's side is searching for its first win of the 2010 season.
This weekend's action will be the final tune-up for Maryland before they play host the 2010 Terp Cup next Thursday - Saturday.
