COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After getting a rare Tuesday off from competition, the University of Maryland baseball team returns to action when it travels to Baltimore on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game with UMBC.
The Terps and the Retrievers have already played once this season, an 8-5 Maryland win in College Park on March 24. Shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez led the Terps to victory, driving in a career-high four runs in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.
Most recently, Maryland picked up a much-needed victory in the series finale with Boston College on Sunday, led by Brett Harman's career-high 12 strikeouts in his third career complete game.
Brandon Padula, who is leading the Atlantic Coast Conference with a .418 batting average, had two hits in each of the three games with the Eagles. Padula is one of only three players in the conference with a batting average above .400, joining Miami's Yasmani Grandal and Virginia Tech's Austin Wates.
RHP Blair Delean (1-1, 6.75) is expected to make the start for Maryland, which enters the contest at 13-21. Delean has made 10 appearances on the mound this season, including three starts. In his last three relief appearances, Delean has allowed just three hits and no runs in a combined 3 1/3 innings. The senior looks to rebound from his most recent start against West Virginia, in which he gave up six runs in 1 1/3.
UMBC enters the matchup at 7-17 overall after taking three of four from Hartford this past weekend. The Retrievers rank fourth in the six-team America East with an 8.09 ERA and fifth with a .264 batting average. Curtis Schickner paces UMBC with a .353 batting average.

After Wednesday's game, Maryland returns home for a three-game series with ACC rival North Carolina State that starts Friday. All three games are free of admission as the Terps celebrate Fan Appreciation Weekend.
