Terps Release 2010-11 Schedule

July 23, 2010

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head coach Sean Schimmel announced the 2010-11 swimming and diving schedule Friday.

The Terps will showcase their top-tier facility, Eppley Recreation Natatorium, a total of nine times, including the annual Terrapin Cup in mid-November.

Maryland begins the competitive season with a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference road trips to N.C. State and Duke Oct. 22 and 23, respectively, but does not leave the friendly confines of College Park again until late December for its winter training trip.

After returning home for the annual Alumni Meet Oct. 30, Maryland welcomes North Carolina for a conference battle Oct. 29 before UMBC and Towson visit College Park Nov. 13. The squad then plays host to the Terrapin Cup Nov. 18-20 where both the men and women vie for repeat titles at the three-day meet.

Maryland ventures to Delray Beach, Fla., for its training trip in late December and embarks on the second half of the season, beginning Jan. 8, when the men take on Navy and the women battle Rutgers in Annapolis.

The Terps wrap up the regular season with a quad meet versus Villanova, Pittsburgh and Penn State (Jan. 14/15), before trekking to West Virginia (Jan. 22) and concluding the home slate with Senior Day against Georgetown Feb. 5.

The 2011 ACC Championships will be held in Atlanta on the campus of Georgia Tech. The women open up action Feb. 16, while the men take to the pool Feb. 23.

Austin, Texas and Minneapolis, Minn., play host to the 2011 NCAA Women's (March 17-19) and Men's (March 24-26) Swimming and Diving Championships, respectively. Last season, the Terp women finished a solid 25th at the NCAAs.
