COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Across the country in November and December, college baseball programs engage in offseason strength and conditioning programs with the goal of readying themselves for the regular season, which begins in February.

The mission during this time period is two-fold: players must not only build the physical strength needed to succeed in a 56-game regular season and beyond into the postseason; but also the mental strength that requires.

Enter the Omaha Challenge, aptly named for the city that plays host to the College World Series and is the culmination of Maryland's offseason strength and conditioning program. It encompasses a variety of grueling events over a four-day span, from monster tire flips to sled racing to tug-of-war. Head coach Erik Bakich revamped the Challenge this year, sticking with many traditional events while adding several to form a "SEAL" theme - Sea, Air and Land.

The result was an event that tested the team mentally and physically unlike they had been in previous Omaha Challenges. The video below says it all.

Congrats to senior OF/LHP Korey Wacker and senior RHP Michael Boyden, the individual winners, and Team Sho Nuff for capturing the team title.
