Terps to Face Penn and Princeton This Weekend

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team travels north on I-95 this weekend for a pair of matches with Ivy League foes. The 41st-ranked Terps (2-3, 0-1 ACC) play at 51st-ranked Princeton Saturday and at Penn Sunday. Both matches are at noon.

Maryland
The Terps have received solid play at their No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots so far this spring. Sophomore Cristina Stancu is ranked 28th nationally and is 3-2 playing at the No.1 spot, while junior Ana Belzunce is 4-1 at No. 2 including a victory over then-46th ranked Brooke Bolender of Michigan.

Belzunce has teamed with sophomore Welma Luus at No. 1 doubles. The Terrapin duo is 4-1 and ranked 37th nationally and has defeated three top-25 opponents in a row.

Last Time Out
The Terps won two doubles matches and split six singles matches against Harvard en route to a 4-3 victory. Luus and Belzunce defeated 25th-ranked Hideko Tachibana and Kristin Norton at No. 1 doubles and Belzunce clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Norton at No. 2 singles.

Penn

Penn Quakers (2-0, 0-0 Ivy)
Roster Schedule Statistics

The Quakers have opened the spring season with a pair of wins over Drexel and California (Pa.) dropping only two points between the contests.

Sol Eskenazi and Stephanie Do have played at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions, respectively, in both matches and are a combined 3-1 in the spring. Both Eskenazi and Do reached the round of 32 at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional in the fall.

Penn is 5-1 in doubles play. Eskenzai has played one match with Daniela DePaoli and one with Jules Rodin at the No. 1 spot, winning both. Do and Alex Ion have been Penn's No. 2 team for both matches and are 1-1.


Princeton

Princeton Tigers (1-1, 0-0 Ivy)
Roster Schedule Statistics

The Tigers, ranked No. 51, are 1-1 after a season-opening win over Temple and a 5-2 loss to No. 13 Georgia Tech.

Princeton features a pair of ranked doubles teams. Hilary Bartlett and Lindsay Graff are ranked 51st and Katie Goepel and Rachel Saiontz are ranked 55th.
