Before Maryland: Excellent prep career at Loyola Blakefield in Towson ... was coached by his father Keith in high school ... broke over 20 Maryland state records during his career ... his teams went 29-2 over his four years ... all-state selection as a senior ... national qualifier in the 1500 and 1000-free ... garnered All-America honors in the open water 15K.
Personal: Bradley Schertle is the son of Jamie and Keith Schertle ... sister Bridgette is a freshman swimmer at Loyola College ... majoring in history and education ... was recruited by Massachusetts, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Dartmouth ... enjoys music, golf, lifeguarding, croquet and ping pong ... lists winning the 10-and-under 200 freestyle state championship as his biggest athletic thrill.
