Iowa City, Iowa. – Senior Myah Hicks crossed the line first for the Maryland women's cross country team at its first ever Big Ten Championships at the Ashton Cross Country course in Iowa City, Sunday.
Hicks completed the 6k course, located on the University of Iowa campus, in 22:17.33 (88th overall). It was the continuation of a strong season for Hicks, who led her team from the start and finished strong in a deep field.
Sophomore Sydney Almeida and junior Emily Vandewater finished in a close pack behind Hicks. Almeida notched a time of 22:43.43 while VandeWater was just a step behind in 22:44.91.
Charde' Barnes' solid run saw her come fourth on the team. Senior Maeve McCoy rounded out the scoring positions for the Terps.
Catherine Sheffo, Alexandra Lucki, Katie Nappi, and Alexa Squirini also competed for Maryland in Iowa.
Michigan State took home the women's team title with a score of 26. Wisconsin and Michigan rounded out the top-3. Leah O'Connor took home the individual title for Michigan State.
The Terps will travel to Penn State on Nov. 14 for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.
