Hey Terps Fans!!

Last week was an exciting week for the GymTerps! Our posters for the 2014-2015 year were just released and it finally feels like season is right around the corner! All our hard work during preseason is ready to be unleashed. To start, our annual Red vs. Black intrasquad was last Friday. We have a larger team this year, so the coaches were able to split up the girls evenly amongst the two teams due to the amount of depth we have on each event!

Sunday started our week off on a great note! It was a long day for the GymTerps, but an exciting one. We had regular practice in the morning, directly followed by lift. Afterwards, we all prepared for our intro video shoot that is played before every home meet. The Maryland marketing and video department has some exciting new additions to the video, so make sure you all come out and see it! Monday, the coaches gave us the day off, so we were able to get ahead on schoolwork before finals begin. Tuesday and Wednesday were team events, and the competition really got fired up between the two teams. Both days, we warmed up and competed separately according to the team we were assigned too. It was great practice! The energy level was high and the pressure was on! Our team exhibits great depth on each event and is ready for what the Big Ten has to offer. We are grateful to have the girls who were injured last year back in line-ups. A huge shout out goes to Leah Slobodin for making a remarkable recovery! Her power on both floor and vault is absolutely incredible! Her gymnastics is better than ever, so make sure to watch out for this young lady as she looks to make a statement this year for the GymTerps.

Thursday was walk through day which consisted of visualizations and some small adjustments before the big day! Finally, Friday was here! The girls competed with a lot of energy and heart. Both the red and black team started off powerful, neck-to-neck with scoring. The second half of the competition resulted with some falls on both teams, but the black team snuck past the red for the win in the end.

This week the GymTerps demonstrated great depth and passion. The competition was fierce and neither team caved to the other. Both teams fought for every tenth, handstand, and stuck landing in order to win the meet. Make sure to stay tuned this season to see what we have to offer! We have some great competition this year, and we would love for you to come out and support us as we compete in the XFINITY Center! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!

Thanks Everyone!
