Terps Travel to Salty Dog Invitational Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women's cross-country team competes for the second time this season at the Salty Dog Invitational at the Navy in Annapolis Saturday.

Junior Catherine Sheffo leads the Terps into the weekend after a successful showing at the Mount St. Mary's Duals in late August. Sheffo was the top Maryland finisher, slotting in at 15th place.

Alexa Squirini also returns to action. The sophomore finished just behind Sheffo in 19th position in Emmitsburg and will look to improve this weekend. Sophomore Sydney Almeida and sophomore Charde Barnes also had successful outings and will bring their second-year experience to Annapolis.

The teams competing at the Salty Dog is a local contingent that includes American, Bowie State, George Washington, Howard, Johns Hopkins, Loyola (Md.), McDaniel, Richmond and UMBC, along with host Navy.

A couple of Terrapin runners will not compete this weekend in preparation for the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational and the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City. The full list of Maryland competitors is below.

The competition begins at 11:30 a.m. on the Naval Academy Golf Course.
