COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Throwers Chinoma Onyekwere and Claudia Ababio are among the Maryland contingent traveling to the Tiger Open at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, N.J., Saturday. Competition is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
Onyekwere and Ababio have both started the season strong. Onyekwere won the shot put at the Penn State Relays and the Terrapin Invitational. Ababio won the weight throw at the Terrapin Invitational and finished third in the shot put.
The Terps will be will represented in the distance events with the likes of Sydney Almeida, Maeve McCoy and Catherine Sheffo taking to the track. Freshmen Chandler Baxter and Adrienne Minor will appear in the sprints for the Terps.
Jacqueline Tape and Lauren Ball are also expected to compete in New Jersey in the 60m hurdles.
On the men's side, Dan Trettel will look to build on his performance at the Terrapin Invitational. The junior won the mile and 800m titles at the Terps' lone home event of the indoor season. Senior Kika Punyua and Louis Corgliano will represent the Terrapins in the distance events.
Nick Pulli will participate in the throws after debuting at the Terrapin Invitational. Freshman Josh Landsman, who finished third in the high jump at the Terrapin Invitational, will also be in New Jersey.
