ORLANDO, Fla.— After rain washed out a pair of games Saturday, the Maryland softball team split two games, including a 10-0 rout of Northern Iowa, to finish the Citrus Classic Sunday.
Maryland fell to No. 20 Missouri in the first game of the day, 5-1.
With the split, Maryland moves to 12-7 on the season. Bridget Hawvermale hit .500 on the weekend with four hits, three RBI and a .625 slugging percentage.
“It was nice to see how we competed against top competition,” head coach Courtney Scott Deifel said. “I would have liked to see us battle Missouri a little bit more. We have a few athletes stepping up and playing in positions they don't usually play. I'm proud of how those players are responding individually and how we responded collectively in game two.”
The Terps return to action when they head to the JMU Invitational March 6-8 in Harrisonburg, Va.
