• Maryland took the first two games against Cal State Fullerton to clinch the series against the Titans at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.
• VCU leads the all-time series 25-18.
• Sophomore second baseman Brandon Lowe and sophomore right handed pitcher Mike Shawaryn were named to the 60-player midseason USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Watch List. The award is given to the top amatuer baseball player in the country.
• Lowe currently leads the Big Ten in slugging (.642), runs scored (44) and home runs (9). The Suffolk, Va., native is second on-base percentage at .473.
• After setting the Maryland single-season record for wins last season, Shawaryn has accumulated nine victories already this season, good enough for tops in the country. His 20 career wins are the most for any sophomore in the nation and is tied for the most career wins in Maryland history.
• Shawaryn earned his fourth Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor on April 20 after his 13 strikeout performance against Cal State Fullerton. Shawaryn went eight innings, did not allow a run and did not walk a batter. He leads the Big Ten in strikeouts.
• In its first year in the Big Ten, Maryland has put together an offensive performance that paces the conference. The Terrapins lead the league in slugging percentage (.428), runs scored (257), home runs (34) and walks (166).
• Maryland's pitching staff has been mowing opposing batters down all season. The Terps lead the Big Ten with 327 strikeouts on the season, including 114 struck out looking, also a conference high.
• Catcher Kevin Martir has been outstanding at the plate this season. The junior is fifth in the conference in average (.358) and slugging (.551), and third on OBP (.454).
• Kevin Mooney notched his fourth save of the season against Liberty to move his all-time Maryland career saves record to 26 The record was previously held by Brett Cecil. Mooney broke the record with a save against Minnesota on March 21.
