COLLEGE PARK, MD. – The No. 75 Maryland women's tennis team dropped its contest to Illinois 7-0, at the Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill. Saturday afternoon.

Maryland (9-10, 2-6 Big Ten) could not get much started against Illinois in both doubles or singles play.

Terp duo Welma Luus and Ekaterina Tour were able to nab an 8-6 win over Melissa Kopinski and Lousie Kwong.

Jerricka Boone and Madie Baillon gained the advantage in doubles with an 8-7 (7-2) victory over Maryland pair Nataliya Bredikhina and Kristina Hovsepyan. An 8-6 win over Olga Bredikhina and Olga Gaistruk from Alexis Casati and Grace Tapak clinched the doubles point for Illinois.

In singles, Illinois's Kopinski downed Nataliya Bredikhina 6-3, 6-2 before Kwong defeated Luus 6-2, 6-2 to put Illinois up 3-0. Maryland gave up another point when Hovsepyan fell 6-4, 6-4, to Jade Hilton. The Fighting Illini sealed the match when Casati handed a loss to Tour, 6-4, 6-3.

Maryland's Olivia Gaudreault rallied back to win in the second set, but was still edged out by Baillon 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5). To round out the shutout, Boone stamped out Olga Bredikhina 6-3, 6-4.

The Terps return to action at No. 21 Northwestern. First serve is scheduled for noon.
