DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Kathy Tang won the vault and floor titles as the Maryland gymnastics team challenged 29th-ranked New Hampshire Friday night. The Terps narrowly fell to the Wildcats, 195.325-195.125.
Tang tied her career highs with a 9.900 on vault and a 9.875 on floor. Freshman Macey Roberts placed second on vault with a 9.825 while sophomore Abbie Epperson finished second on beam (9.850) and tied with Tang for third on bars (9.825).
The team's 195.125 Is Maryland's highest road score of the season.
Maryland began the meet on bars, where Tang and Epperson paced the Terps. Freshman Megan McClelland scored a 9.750 and junior Sarah Faller led off with a 9.725 as the Terps scored a 48.775.
The team scored a 48.825 on vault, anchored by Tang's 9.900. Faller again led the Terps off strong with a 9.750 and junior Emily Brauckmuller scored a 9.700.
Maryland moved to floor, where the Terps posted their highest team score of the evening with a 49.025. Junior Leah Slobodin led off with a 9.775, while Epperson posted a matching score. Brauckmuller and Roberts tallied 9.800s while Tang anchored the event strong with her 9.875.
The Terps finished the night on beam, where the team scored a 48.500. Epperson's 9.850 highlighted the event, which set a new personal record. Sophomore Dominiquea Trotter earned a 9.725 while Faller and sophomore Evelyn Nee earned 9.700s.
The Terps have a quick turnaround and will compete in Washington, D.C., Sunday at 1 p.m. in a quad meet vs. George Washington, Towson and Rutgers.
