COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team fell to No. 68 Illinois at home on Sunday by a score of 5-2. With this loss, the Terps move to 6-8 on the 2016 season and 3-2 in conference play. 

The Terps had a slow start to begin the day, falling to the Illini in the No.1 and No.2 positions for doubles play. The No.46 duo of Louise Kwong and Ines Vias topped Terp pair Alexandra Stanova and Kristina Hovsepyan, 6-1. In the No.2 positon, Ekaterina Tour and Arnelle Sullivan fell to Jerrocka Boone and Madie Baillon by a score of 6-2 to give Illinois the point.

Mayland gained some traction in singles play with quick wins from Terps Tour and Nataliya Bredikhina. Tour extended her singles wining streak to three by taking down Daniela Pedraza Novak, 6-1, 7-5. N. Bredikhina followed up with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Vias. 

The Terps battled hard but came up short to the Illini. Cassandre Thebault was defeated 7-6(6), 6-2 by Jaclyn Swiktes,snapping her three consective singles win streak. Illinois ran away with the victory, winning hard matches in the higher positions. 

Maryland will continue Big Ten action next weekend at home with matches set for Penn State on Saturday, April 2 and No.2 Ohio State on Sunday, April 3.
