COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terps were swept by the No.2 Ohio State Women's tennis team Sunday afternoon at home. With this loss the Terps fall to 7-9 on the season and 4-3 in 2016 conference action.
Doubles play saw No.2 duo of Anna Sanford and Miho Kowase defeat Ekaterina Tour and Arnelle Sullivan, 6-1. Terps Nataliya Bredikhina and Caroline Williams could not win over Gabriella De Santis and Sandy Niehaus, falling by a score of 6-1 and giving OSU momentum going into singles play.
Maryland could not find their rhythm in singles play as they faced off against ranked OSU players No.3 Di Lorenzo and No. 58 Niehaus. Alexandra Stanova battled Di Lorenzo in the first position but came up short 6-2, 6-3.
Coming off her fifth conference win, Cassandre Thebault matched up against No. 58 Niehaus but did not come out on top 7-5(3), 6-2.
The Maryland women's tennis team finish an eight conference match stretch next weekend away in Michigan. They are set for matches against Michigan State on Saturday and Michigan on Sunday. Action is scheduled to start at noon.
