COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Each week during the 2015-16 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is junior sprinter Micha Powell of the Maryland women's track and field team.
Powell had a hand in two Maryland outdoor track and field records this past weekend as the Terps competed in the Pepsi Florida Relays. Powell first broke a 17-year old UMD record on Friday, running a personal best 52.49 in the 400 meter dash. The time currently ranks 9th in the nation. She then helped set another Maryland record running a 200 meter leg of the sprint medley relay on Saturday. The relay team combined to run 3:54.92, breaking an 11-year Maryland record in the event.
Powell and the rest of the Terps return to competition this Saturday, April 9 when the squad competes at the Virginia Lou Onesty Invite.
