Each week during the 2016-17 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Kathryn Gearhart of the women's cross country team.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Freshman Kathryn Gearhart of the Maryland cross country team has been named the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week after helping lead the Terps to a meet victory at the Salty Dog Invitational on September 10.

The win was the second consecutive meet victory for the Terrapins, after previously winning the Mt. St. Mary's 5k Duals on September 2. Gearhart was again the top Maryland runner, as she finished third in the field at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course with a time of 23:06.76. The win marked the first Salty Dog Invitational team victory for UMD since the 2010 season.

Gearhart won her collegiate debut at Mt. St. Mary, claiming the individual race title with a time of 18:01.5.
