Hemida Earns 16th Win in Dual vs. OSU

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Junior heavyweight Youssif Hemida picked up his third-consecutive win as the Maryland wrestling team (3-5, 0-5 B1G) dropped its conference dual against No. 2 Ohio State (7-0, 2-0 B1G) by a score of 45-3 on Friday.

Hemida earned an 8-1 decision over Kevin Snyder, good for his 16th win of the season. He is now an impressive 16-1 on the year, and 5-0 in conference matches.

"We had a great crowd tonight for another match against a strong conference opponent," head coach Kerry McCoy said. "Ohio State is an elite program and they proved that tonight. Youssif was able to close out the match with another win over a solid wrestler and we picked up on some things to work on moving forward. We have a quick turnaround with the match against Nebraska on Sunday but we're excited for another opportunity to go out and compete."

Maryland battled a Buckeye lineup that featured nine ranked grapplers, including five who rank in the top-5 of their respective weight classes. The match included the dual debut of Jahi Jones at 184 pounds, and the season debut for Mansur-Abdul Malik. Both wrestlers faced opponents who are ranked in the top-2 of their weight classes. Ohio State's veteran lineup was able to capitalize with five bonus point wins.

The Terps will travel to Nebraska for their sixth conference dual on Sunday. They will take on the Huskers at the Devaney Center at 2 p.m. (CT). The match will be streamed live on BTN2Go ($).
