#9/10 Maryland Welcomes Dayton Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. –  The ninth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (1-0) will host 2018 NCAA Tournament Team Dayton (1-0) Sunday at 2 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.

In honor of Veterans Day Sunday's matchup is the Terrapins' annual Hometown Heroes Day. In appreciation for all that is done for the community, local police officers, firefighters, EMTs and other first responders, as well as any military members can gain free admission by showing their ID at the XFINITY Center ticket window.
 
The Terps-Flyers game Sunday will be streamed live online through BTN Plus and can be seen on BTN2Go.com and the BTN2Go app. Fans can watch with their BTN Plus subscriptions. Fans outside the U.S. can watch here.

Maryland beat Coppin State, 93-36, Friday night in the Terps' season opener. Freshman Taylor Mikesell scored 18 points, junior Stephanie Jones added 17 and 12 boards and junior Kaila Charles added 11 points. Freshman Shakira Austin grabbed 21 rebounds with 12 points and seven blocks as the Terrapins outrebounded the Eagles, 71-39.
 
Maryland is ranked No. 9 Associated Press preseason poll and No. 10 in the USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches Preseason Poll.
 
The Terps were picked to win the Big Ten this year by both the league's head coaches and the media. Charles was unanimously named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team and was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List. Channise Lewis was one of 20 point guards in the country named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List.
 
Frese is entering her 17th season as the head coach of the Terrapins. She's led them to a record of 430-119 (.783). She is 13 wins from 500 in her 20-year head coaching career with a record of 487-149 (.766). Frese has led the Terrapins to 14 NCAA Tournaments in her 16 post seasons, three Final Fours, six Elite Eights, eight Sweet Sixteens and nine conference titles.
 
The Flyers beat Colgate, 67-58, Friday afternoon. The all-time series is tied at one win apiece between Maryland and Dayton, with the Flyers taking the most recent meeting in 2001.
 
After Sunday's game, the Terrapins will travel across town to play at George Washington (0-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Colonials' Charles E. Smith Center.
