Box Score SAN JUAN, P.R. –  A strong third quarter surge pushed the seventh-ranked Maryland women's basketball team past Morgan State, 68-44, Friday afternoon in the Puerto Rico Clasico tournament.

Taylor Mikesell hit four of her five three-pointers in the period to lead the Terrapins' charge. They outscored the Bears 40-22 in the half.

Junior
Kaila Charles led the way for Maryland (5-0) with 18 points, Mikesell scored 17 and junior
Stephanie Jones scored 10 points with 11 boards. Freshman
Shakira Austin pulled down 14 rebounds.
"I thought we started the game slow and I think that's a credit to Morgan State," head coach
Brenda Frese said. "I thought they were the more aggressive team. Our team was challenged at halftime and I thought we had a great response in the second half.
Stephanie Jones gave us a tremendous, consistent effort for 40 minutes and
Taylor Mikesell gave us some great threes in the second half.
Kaila Charles got going. We are going to have to continue to step up and play a 40-minute game."

Morgan State kept the game within a possession through the first quarter, as the Terps held a 16-13 lead at the end of the period.
Blair Watson and
Channise Lewis both hit threes and Jones made two buckets to make it a 28-22 lead at half.
Coming out of the break, Charles got to the foul line, then Mikesell hit a three, Charles made a layup to make it a 34-23 lead with ith 8:07 left in the third. The Bears called timeout and Mikesell responded with nine straight points for Maryland.
The Bears (1-5) were led by Adreoria Coleman with 20 points.Â

The Terrapins will play No. 24 Georgia (3-2) Saturday at noon ET in their final game of the Puerto Rico Clasico. The Terps-Bulldogs game will be streamed online through
