Kirsten Peterman and sophomore
Audrey Barber were selected as Maryland's Gymnasts to Watch, as announced by the Big Ten Thursday.
Peterman is a returning all-around competitor who had a standout sophomore season in 2018. The Ontario, Canada native holds a career-high 9.900 on bars and 9.850 on floor. She also holds a 9.800 personal best on vault and 9.825 on beam. Entering her third year of collegiate competition, she holds a personal best 39.175 high score in the all-around.
Barber is a returning all-around competitor who had a standout freshman season in 2018. She was named to the First Team All-Big Ten in 2018 and led the team to NCAA Regionals. Barber holds a career-high 9.925 on bars and 9.900 on floor. She also holds a personal best 9.875 on vault and 9.850 on beam. The Temple Hills, Md. native posted a team-best 39.475 score in the all-around in 2018.
The Terps were selected to finish eighth in the annual Big Ten Coaches' Poll.
Maryland opens the 2019 season at home against West Chester, Penn and Cortland on Sunday, Jan. 13 at noon in the XFINITY Center concourse.
