Maryland Announces 2019 Women's Lacrosse Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Coming off the program's 10th straight Final Four and two Big Ten titles, head coach Cathy Reese announced the 2019 women's lacrosse schedule on Wednesday.

"We are really excited to get out on the field this spring," said Reese. "This team, led by an amazing senior class, is going to be a lot of fun to watch. We can't wait to compete against a challenging schedule."

Due to construction on the field at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex this spring, Maryland will play their home games at both Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium and Ludwig Field. All games played on the weekend will be played at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium while the three midweek contests will occur at Ludwig Field.

The women's and men's lacrosse teams will play four doubleheader dates at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. You can see both teams in action on February 9 (George Mason), March 16 (Ohio State), April 6 (Michigan) and April 27 (Johns Hopkins). Times for all of Maryland's home games will be announced at a later date.

11 of Maryland's 17 opponents finished the 2018 season in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, including five that finished in the top 10. The schedule is highlighted with the Terps hosting North Carolina and traveling to James Madison, Florida and Northwestern.

Maryland will open up their season with one of the doubleheaders as the Terps welcome George Mason to College Park. Following the opener, the Terps will head south to Gainesville to face 2018 NCAA Quarterfinal team Florida on Thursday, February 14.

On Sunday, February 24, Maryland will face 2018 Final Four team North Carolina at Maryland Stadium. Each of the last five regular season meetings between the Terps and Tar Heels have been decided by three goals or less.

The following week, Maryland will play two road games, at UMBC on Wednesday, February 27 and at Hofstra on Saturday, March 2.

A three game home stand will commence on Saturday, March 9 against Syracuse. Maryland will then host Penn on Wednesday, March 13 before opening up Big Ten play against Ohio State on Saturday, March 16.

A challenging two game road trip will occur on Thursday, March 21 and Sunday, March 24 as the Terps travel to Penn State and 2018 National Champions James Madison, before coming back home to face Princeton on Wednesday, March 27.

Maryland's third Big Ten game of the season will be at Rutgers on Saturday, March 30. Following that, Maryland will play their final nonconference road game of the season at Virginia on Wednesday, April 3.

Both the women and the men will host Michigan at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium on Saturday, April 6. The following Thursday, the Terps will fly to Evanston for their last road game of the regular season to face Northwestern on April 11.

The regular season will commence with home games against Georgetown on Wednesday, April 17 and Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 27.

The Big Ten Tournament will take place from May 3-5 at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. The NCAA First and Second Rounds will be hosted at campus sites from May 10-12 and the Third Round will take place on May 18. The Final Four will be hosted at the same place as the Big Ten Tournament, just up the road at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins with the semifinals on May 24 and the championship on May 26.

The Terps finished the 2018 season with a 20-2 overall record, including a 6-0 record in conference play. Maryland won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the 10th straight season. The Terps return nine starters from last year's squad, including All-American seniors Julia Braig, Jen Giles, Caroline Steele and Megan Taylor, as well as transfer Erica Evans.

Tickets for all home games will go on sale next month.
