COLLEGE PARK -  The University of Maryland gymnastics team gave an outstanding performance at Sunday's quad meet, marking head coach Brett Nelligan's highest overall score during his tenure and the fourth overall highest score in program history. The Terps' impressive score of 196.575 earned them wins over Rutgers (193.950), William & Mary (193.650) and Brown (193.325).

"I thought this was our first complete meet. I challenged them this week to put a complete four-event meet together and they did a phenomenal job," Nelligan said. "I'm thrilled for the team. I have no doubt that with the talent we have, we can push over 196 again."

The GymTerps placed first in every event, notching a total of 13 personal-best scores and earning 19 scores of 9.800 or higher.

The reigning Terp of the Week, freshman Audrey Barber, placed first in the overall competition with a career-high score of 39.475, followed by fellow Terps sophomore Alecia Farina (39.150) and sophomore Kirsten Peterman (39.100).

The team began the meet on vault, counting an overall team score of 49.125 and no score under 9.725. Peterman paced the Terps with a solid 9.800 and sophomore Emma Johnson and freshman Collea Burgess followed with a pair of 9.825s. Barber tallied the highest score for the team on the event with a 9.875.

The Terps then moved to bars, their strongest rotation of the meet, where they earned an overall team score of 49.300 to tie the third highest score on the apparatus in program history. Barber and Farina anchored the team with an impressive pair of 9.900s

Maryland competed next on balance beam, where the Terps earned a total of 48.950. Junior Shynelle Agaran earned the Terps their highest score on the event by setting a personal-best with a score of 9.875.  Emilie LeBlanc set a career-high with a 9.825 and Barber anchored the team with her own career-high of 9.850.

The team finished the afternoon on floor, tallying a team score of 49.200. Freshmen Sabriyya Rouse, Karrie Thomas and Audrey Barber scored 9.850 and Farina posted her second 9.900 of the afternoon.

The Terps return to action next Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. as they travel to face West Virginia. The meet will be live streamed on wvusports.com.
