MORGANTOWN, W. Va., – The Maryland gymnastics team displayed impressive performances against West Virginia and Pittsburg, placing second overall at Sunday's meet. West Virginia won the meet with a score of 196.225, followed by Maryland (195.825) and Pittsburgh (195.250).

Freshman Audrey Barber placed third in the all-around, earning a 39.125. Sophomores Alecia Farina and Kirsten Peterman also competed in the all-around, posting a 39.100 and 38.700, respectively. Peterman and freshman Emilie LeBlanc earned scores of 9.875 on the uneven bars to place first in a three-way tie for the event title.

The Terps started off the meet with a solid start on bars, the strongest event for the team on Friday, as they earned a 49.100. LeBlanc and Peterman with a pair of 9.875s, and Farina led anchored the rotation with a 9.825.

Maryland posted an overall score of 48.950 on beam, with Barber and Junior Shynelle Agaran both scoring an event-high of 9.825.

The team then moved to floor, where Farina posted an event-high of 9.850 for the Terps. Freshman Sabriyya Rouse earned a 9.825, and Peterman and Freshman Karrie Thomas  posted a solid pair of 9.775s, giving the team a 48.975 on the event.

Maryland notched a 48.800 score on vault, led by Farnia's score of 9.800. Freshman Collea Burgess earned a 9.775 in the event, and Barber and sophomore Morgan Bixler both scored 9.750s.

Next week's meet on Friday Feb. 23 in Philadelphia marks the annual Pink Meet to promote breast cancer awareness.
