COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior AJ Lee hit a solo home run, but the Maryland baseball team fell to Army, 4-3, in the home opener at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium Friday night.

The Terrapins (2-3) had multiple opportunities to score early, but could only manage a run after loading the bases in each of the first two innings. The Black Knights (2-3) scored two runs in the third and fifth to nab the win.

After a clean first inning, Maryland starter Taylor Bloom was up-and-down through the contest, but ended up delivering the Terps seven innings. The Terps loaded the bases with two outs in the home half of the opening frame, but Will Watson grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.

Maryland once again loaded the bases in the second, this time with one out. Senior Zach Jancarski picked up an RBI on a sac fly to open the scoring. Nick Dunn then walked, but Taylor Wright grounded out to end the inning.

Army struck for two runs in the top half of the third. Lee then hit the first home run of his season over the fence in left. Lee had two base hits to pace the Terps.

The Black Knights broke the tie in the fifth with a pair of runs off Bloom. Maryland pulled a run back when Taylor Wright scored on a wild pitch from second in the eighth, but could not overcome Army's one-run lead in the ninth.
