EAST LANSING, MICH. - The No. 28 Maryland gymnastics team earned a second place finish at the Michigan State-hosted Big Five meet Saturday, upsetting No.11 Nebraska and No. 24 Ohio State.

Maryland posted a 195.700 in the competition while Illinois notched the first-place finish with a 196.850, followed by Ohio State (195.150), Nebraska (194.900) and Michigan State (192.825).

Freshman Audrey Barber tied for fourth place in the all-around with a 39.350. Sophomore Kirsten Peterman also competed, earning a 38.950.

The Terps began the meet on bars, where the team tallied a 49.250. Freshman Emilie LeBlanc and junior Shynelle Agaran started Maryland off with a pair of 9.825s. Peterman earned a 9.825 of her own, followed by Barber with a 9.875. Sophomore Alecia Farina anchored with a 9.900 to earn a third-place finish for the event.

Maryland moved to beam, where the team finished with a 48.300. Barber and fellow freshman Sabriyya Rouse led the Terps on the apparatus with a pair of 9.775s.

After a bye, the Terps competed on floor and earned a 49.075. Freshman Karrie Thomas performed a 9.800 and Rouse tallied a 9.825. Peterman and Barber led the team with a pair of 9.850s.

The Terps finished the meet on vault with a 49.075. Peterman led off with a 9.800, a score freshman Collea Burgess matched. Barber earned a 9.850 and Farina anchored with a 9.875.

The Terps return to action next Saturday at the Big Ten Championships at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois. Maryland will compete in the later session at 8 p.m. against Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State and Illinois on the Big Ten Network.
