ROSEMONT, Ill. - Freshman Audrey Barber was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and sophomore Alecia Farina was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team, as announced by the conference Monday.
Farina and Barber have solidified themselves as notable anchors for the Terps.
Barber is tied for 7th in the Big Ten with an RQS of 39.300 in the all-around. The Temple Hills, Md. native is also ranked 8th on bars (9.890 RQS) and floor (9.880 RQS).
Barber posted a season-high 39.475 in the all-around against Brown, Rutgers and William & Mary on Feb.11. She earned a season-high score of 9.875 on floor against Iowa Jan. 25 and notched the same score as a career-high against Michigan on Feb. 4.
A native of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Farina is ranked 7th on floor with an RQS of 9.890. Farina notched a career-high score of 9.925 on the event in the Maryland Five meet against Bridgeport, Cornell, Southern Connecticut and West Chester on March 11.
The all-conference teams are determined by individual regional qualifying scores for each event and the all-around.
Barber and Farina are Marylands' fifth and sixth All-Big Ten honoree. Last Season, Emily Brauckmuller earned second team honors. Kathy Tang earned second team honors in 2016 while Stephanie Giameo and Karen Tang were named to the second team in 2015.
The Terps are back in action next Saturday at the Big Ten Championships at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois. Maryland will compete in the later session at 8 p.m. against Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State and Illinois on the Big Ten Network.
