COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland track and field student-athlete
Alex Leto has been granted a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, the NCAA announced on Monday.
The NCAA grants up to 174 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes around the country annually to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are at least in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. The scholarships are $7,500 for use in an accredited graduate program. Leto is one of 29 male student-athletes nationally that were awarded the scholarship following the 2018 spring athletic season.Â
Leto is a four-year letterwinner for the Maryland men's track and field team that graduated in May with a 3.46 GPA in kinesiology. Leto earned the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor this May as well as the Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship.
A three-time academic all-conference honoree, Leto has been named to the Deans List twice and has been on the Athlete Honor Roll every semester since enrolling at Maryland. Leto earned the prestigious Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winner and has won both the Terp Award for Community Service and the James H. Kehoe Award, given to the male student athlete who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship.Â
