#10 Terrapins Handle Hoosiers, 76-56

Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 10th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team handled Indiana, 76-56, in a dominant road win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Sunday afternoon. Juniors Kaila Charles and Stephanie Jones combined for 45 points to lead the Terrapins (18-2, 7-2 B1G) to their third straight win and seven win on the road this year.
 
Charles scored a season-high 25 points, including 19 in the first half, with 11 boards. Jones chipped in her second straight 20-point game and added five boards. Freshman Taylor Mikesell chipped in 13 points and five assists.
 
The Hoosiers, who are receiving votes in the coaches poll this week, jumped out to an eight-point lead midway through the first quarter, but Charles answered with 12 straight points for the Terrapins. Maryland ended the first 10 quarter on a 6-0 run and the teams sat tied at 20.
 
The Terrapins extended their push to a 16-4 run bridging the first two quarters. A three-pointer by Mikesell at 7:58 made it a 26-22 lead for the Terps.
 
Maryland went on another 19-3 run in the second quarter, led by nine points from Jones, to open a 15-point lead. The Terps held the Hoosiers scoreless and forced six turnovers to open a 40-25 lead at the half.
 
The teams shot a combined 16 free throws in the third quarter, led by Jones, who went 4-for-4 at the line in the period.
 
Maryland scored 23 points off 20 Indiana turnovers and won every quarter. The Terrapins also controlled the paint, outscoring the Hoosiers 42-32.
 
Next, the Terrapins will return home to College Park to host Wisconsin (10-10, 1-7) Thursday at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.
 
The Terrapins will partner with Play4TheCure at Thursday's game. Play4TheCure is a fundraising platform for the National Foundation for Cancer Research which provides funding worldwide to the best scientists to enable cutting edge research that other large cancer organizations can't and won't fund. Play4TheCure inspires young athletes and their teams to leverage their passion for sports to "Play4" loved ones affected by cancer and encourages them to actively participate in working to fund cancer research to make a difference.
 
Fans can donate with proceeds going to the National Foundation for Cancer Research here. Fans can show their donation receipt to the Terrapin Ticket Office on game day to receive a $4 discounted ticket to the game.
 
Thursday's game is also Testudo Bobblehead night. All fans in attendance will receive a scratch off ticket upon entry into the arena. Five hundred lucky fans will take home a Testudo bobblehead. Click here for tickets.
