BETHLEHEM, Pa.— Senior Brittany Lang earned All-Region Honors after she placed 16th in a field of 208 runners and ran a new 6K personal best (20:40.4) at the 2019 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Championship Friday morning. This is the fourth straight year Maryland has had an all-region performer.

Lang and the Terrapins returned to Lehigh University to compete on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The team scored 477 points and placed 16th of 27 teams in the region. 

Maryland had the opportunity to compete on the same course earlier in the season at the Paul Short Invitational, which served as a preview run for today's race.

Marking the top performance from the Terps this season, Lang approached the 1K mark in 17th place, and paced her way through the next 3K where she checked in at 19th. In the final stretch, Lang passed three runners for her 16th place finish.

Junior Christine Laurie was the second Terp to cross the finish line in 21:35.9. Throughout the 2019 season, Laurie made major improvements and helped the Terps score across the board.

Freshman Anna Coffin (22:14.6) and senior Caroline Augelli (22:39.4) were the third and fourth Terps to finish as they worked their way through the competition. Samantha Facius finished her first cross country season with a solid 6K run. Sophomore Sarah Daniels rounded out the six Maryland competitors with a steady race. 

The 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, In. The top two teams in each region move on to the NCAA Championship, while additional "at-large" teams and individual qualifiers will be announced Saturday, Nov. 16 at the NCAA selection show. The show will be live at 5:00 p.m. (ET) on NCAA.com.
