COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Juniors Audrey Barber and Collea Burgess were selected as Maryland's Gymnasts to Watch, as announced by the Big Ten.
Barber is a returning all-around competitor and two-time All-Big Ten Team selection. The Temple Hills, Maryland native holds a career-high 9.875 on vault, a 9.925 on bars, a 9.900 on beam and a 9.900 on floor. Entering her third year of collegiate competition, she holds a personal best 39.475 high score in the all-around.
Burgess returns for her third collegiate season after a breakout sophomore season in 2019. She held the anchor position on floor with her outstanding routine earning a career-high 9.925 in the event. Burgess also holds a career-highs on vault (9.850) and beam (9.800).Â
The Terps were selected to finish eighth in the annual Big Ten Coaches' Poll and 33rd nationally.
Maryland opens the 2020 season at the Little Boston Invitational against West Chester and George Washington University on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Boston, Mass. The Terps home opener comes on Sunday, January 19 for a noon competition with Iowa in the XFINITY Center.
