Terps and Creighton Face Off in Three Game Set

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland baseball team hosts Creighton in a three-game set this weekend at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Omaha, but field conditions there prompted the series to be moved to College Park. All three games will be free of admission.
  • Fans should take note of a few traffic/parking related items prior to attending this weekend's series. All weekend, Fieldhouse Drive and the pedestrian sidewalk leading eastbound towards Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium will be closed due to Cole Field House construction. Fans should park in the Regents Drive Garage or be prepared to walk around the south side of Cole Field House if parking in Lot 1 to access the stadium.
  • On Saturday, Maryland will host NCAA Women's Basketball, softball and men's lacrosse in addition to baseball's 2 p.m. contest. Fans should prepare for congestion and arrive early.

  • The Maryland baseball team returns to action against Creighton this weekend for a three-game series. The series was scheduled to be played in Omaha, but field conditions prompted the move to College Park. 
  • Maryland is 1-2 all-time against Creighton. The teams last met in 2007, with Maryland taking a 10-4 win in a game played in Rock Hill, S.C. All three meetings between the two teams have been played at neutral sites. 
  • Freshman Maxwell Costes has been fantastic so far this season, earning two Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and a Big Ten Player of the Week plaudit. Costes leads the Terps with a .301 average and 19 RBIs.
  • Maryland's Friday ace Hunter Parsons has been solid so far this season. The senior boasts a 2.45 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 33 innings. Parsons is holding opposing hitters to a .233 batting average.
  • Fellow weekend starter Zach Thompson was fantastic in a losing effort against No. 17 ECU last Saturday. He finished with a career high eight innings of work while allowing just the two earned runs. He struck out two and walked on. Thompson has a 3.34 ERA for the season.
  • Senior Taylor Wright has taken a step up in his second season after coming to Maryland from the JUCO ranks prior to the 2018 season. Wright has an even .300 average and leads the Terps in doubles with nine. Wright, who plays great defense at third base, has six steals and 12 talks as one of Maryland's most complete players. 
  • Senior closer John Murphy has already picked up four saves this season which is third in the Big Ten. Maryland has five total saves this year after recording seven in all of 2018. Murphy has struck out 20 to just two walks in 11 innings of work so far this season.
