CHICAGO — Senior shortstop AJ Lee captured Big Ten Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Lee was spectacular in Maryland's 4-0 week that helped the Terps secure the sixth seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The Millersville, Md., native slashed .588/1.235/.632 with four multi-hit games and home runs in three consecutive games. He led the team with eight runs scored, 10 hits and six RBIs.
The senior hit a walk-off homer in the opening game of Maryland's series with Iowa. His home runs in three consecutive games is the first time a Terp has achieved that since 2017. He reached base at least three times in all four games.
Lee is Maryland's second Big Ten Player of the Week of the year. Freshman Maxwell Costes has also earned the award.
Maryland, the No. 6 seed, opens the Big Ten Tournament Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. ET against third-seeded Illinois. BTN will have live coverage and fans can also listen to the action on the Maryland Baseball Network.
