COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland women's tennis head coach Katie Dougherty announced the addition of Dan Pollock as associate head coach Thursday afternoon. Pollock most recently served as the head coach of Butler's men's tennis program.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Dan on board," Dougherty said. "He is a proven leader as both an assistant and head coach. He is an outstanding recruiter and developmental coach. I have no doubt he will make an immediate impact on our players and the program helping to move us forward in the conference and nationally. We're fortunate to have a coach his caliber on staff and he exudes passion for college tennis and developing student-athletes on and off the court."

Pollock served as the head coach of the Bulldogs for a single season, leading his squad to a program record 21 wins and the BIG EAST semifinals. Pollock produced a pair of All-BIG EAST selections and put
together a top-40 recruiting class, the best in Butler history.

Prior to his stint with the Bulldogs, Pollock was on the staff at Utah for four seasons and helped guide the Utes to an at large berth in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, the program's first appearance in 21 years. Utah rose to as high as No. 24 in the national rankings that season and was ranked No. 1 in its region.

Pollock was an assistant coach at BYU from 2012-14, helping the program to a No. 30 national ranking, along with team and individual berths into the NCAA Tournament. He continued to shine as a recruiter for BYU, securing the highest ranked class in program history.

As the head women's tennis coach at Idaho from 2011-2012, Pollock helped the Vandals post a 19-8 dual match record. He was also an assistant men's coach at Idaho during the 2010-11 season and at University of Hawaii at Hilo during the 2009-10 season. He was named the ITA Division II West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Pollock started his coaching career at UIC from 2007-09. A Manchester, England native, Pollock played collegiate tennis for a year at Anderson University (2003-2004) before transferring to the Hawaii-Hilo (2004-2007), where he was named to the All-Pacific West Conference team in 2006 and 2007, while his team was ranked as high as No. 27 in the nation.

At Hawaii-Hilo, Pollock earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education (4.0 GPA) and was named Scholar Athlete of the Year twice. He earned a masters degree in applied exercise physiology from UIC.
