COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women's tennis team travels to William & Mary to take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Hall of Fame Classic this weekend. The event begins Friday and runs through this Sunday. The eight-team field will contest the event at the Millie West Tennis Facility and the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
The Terps will play in a field that includes Liberty, Miami, Old Dominion, Penn State, VCU, West Virginia and the hosts William & Mary. Miami, Old Dominion and VCU were all NCAA Tournament teams last season.
The format of the Hall of Fame Classic will be a team style of play. Teams will compete in one doubles match and one singles match per day. Individual awards will be given out to the top-performing players in singles and doubles based on their respective records.
The Terps open play against Liberty in doubles at 9 a.m. on Friday before taking on Old Dominion in singles at 1:30 p.m., in the afternoon. Saturday sees the Terps clash with Big Ten foe Penn State in doubles at 9 a.m., prior to singles with Liberty at 1:30 p.m. Maryland closes out the Classic with doubles against William & Mary at 9 a.m., Sunday before singles against Penn State at 10:30 a.m.
