WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Freshman Ayana Akli went undefeated to win singles title at the ITA Hall of Fame Classic at William & Mary this weekend. Akli teamed with Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka to take home the doubles title.

On the final day of play Sunday, Akli and Yemelyanenka defeated Perry and Saric from William & Mary, 8-3 to complete a spotless weekend. Saya Usui and Amber Policare also won their doubles match against the Tribe, 8-6.

Akli wrapped up her weekend in singles with a 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (5) win over Frederikke Svarre of Penn State on Sunday. Yemelyanenka also claimed a singles victory against the Nittany Lions, winning 7-5, 6-3 over Gracey Hirsch. Usui also notched a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7) win over Sydney Weinberg.
Saturday, the Terps were triumphant in all three doubles matchups against Penn State. Akli and Yemelyaneka won 8-4, Chloe Hamlin and Zoe Kulkarni won 8-4 and Usui and Policare won 8-7 (4).

Akli delivered another singles victory against Liberty Saturday afternoon, defeated Alexandra Almborg 6-4, 7-5. Kulkarni notched a win over her opponent retired five games into the match. Yemelyanenka took down Grace Hashiguchi, 6-3, 7-6 (5) while Usui got past Nasha Ghajar, 6-4, 6-3.

In Friday doubles, the Terps won two of three matches against Liberty. Akli and Yemelyanenka defeated Nguyen and Saraty, 8-5 while Usui and Policare took out Hashiguchi and Emery, 8-6. Akli's Friday singles win came against Old Dominion's Shalimar Talbi by a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2) score line.

Maryland returns to action at the Blue & Gold Classic in Annapolis, Md., next weekend.
