Barnsdale Set No. 8 All-Time Weight Throw Friday

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Junior Alice Barnsdale set a No. 8 all-time throw and a personal-best mark of 18.02m (59'12") on day one of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational Friday, hosted by Liberty University.

Barnsdale, who holds the school record in hammer throw (205'05'), was the top thrower for the Terps. Sophomore Kamryn Henderson set a personal-best mark of 17.39m in her opening throw, and Sarah George rounded out the field with a 14.85m mark.

The women's distance squad opened competition for Maryland on the track. The 5K was the first running event of the meet, which had four Terps competing in the race.

Senior distance runner Brittany Lang notched a third-place title in the 5K (17:23.97). Anna Latzko, Sarah Daniels and Caroline Augelli all made their indoor 5K debut, following their successful season in cross country.

Day two of competition kicks off at 10:00 a.m. at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. The day will begin with the long jump and 60m hurdles.
