COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Freshman Ayana Akli has been named Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week as announced Tuesday by the Big Ten Conference. 

Akli has been a force for the Terps, notching two singles titles in fall play, and remains undefeated (6-0) in the No. 1 singles spot for the spring season. 

The freshman took down two ranked opponents over the weekend, first defeating No. 65 Akanksha Bahn of Columbia  5-7, 6-2, 10-5. The Terp then notched a win over No. 97 Paola Diaz Delgado VCU in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. The victory over Delgado marks Akli's fifth ranked win of the season and second for the spring.

Akli and the Terps travel to Oregon this weekend to take on Idaho and Oregon on Feb. 8 and 9, respectively.
