Maryland to Face Idaho and Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. — The Maryland women's tennis team will hit the road for the first time this season and travel to Eugene this weekend to face two opponents, Idaho and Oregon. The Terps will take on Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 8 and Oregon on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Student Tennis Center.

Saturday will mark the first meeting between the Terps and the Vandals, who enter the match 0-3 for the spring season.  Maryland (4-2) will be coming off two recent losses at home, but showed promising wins in singles play from junior Eva Alexandrova and freshman Ayana Akli. Alexandrova has notched two wins at the No. 2 singles for the Terps, and Akli remains undefeated (6-0) at the No. 1 spot.

Aki was most recently named Big Ten Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, and is ranked No. 73 in singles play by the ITA.

The Ducks will be heading into Sunday's match against the Terps 3-1 overall. They defeated UC Riverside, 6-1, their last time out. This will also be the first meeting between Maryland and Oregon.
