ROSEMONT, IL – Maryland field hockey forward
Hope Rose was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time week season Tuesday. The rookie scored a game-winning overtime goal and notched a key assist in two victories for the Terrapins (9-4) last week.

Rose (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) scored the game-winning goal with 31 seconds left in overtime to lead the eighth-ranked Terps past No. 12 Virginia, 2-1, Thursday in Charlottesville. Virginia scored with just under 6:00 to play in regulation, then Maryland senior
Kyler Greenwalt tied it up just over a minute later.

Rose brought the win home for Maryland when she buried a shot off a ball tipped to her from senior
Bibi Donraadt.

Rose notched an assist on the Terps' crucial third goal in a 3-0 win over James Madison Sunday in College Park. She took a shot off a penalty corner, then Donraadt deflected it in for the score.

Rose has six goals this season, which is second on the team. She is leading all freshmen in the Big Ten in scoring. Rose was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Sept. 28. She was named Solomon Eye Terp of the Week Monday.

Maryland will play at No. 3 Rutgers (10-2) Friday at 3 p.m. in Piscataway, N.J. The Terps-Scarlet Knights game will be streamed on B1G+.
