With the start of the 2021 Major League Baseball season, three former Terrapin standouts will appear on MLB rosters to open the season. Tampa Bay's Brandon Lowe and Oakland's Adam Kolarek made their respective teams' opening day rosters, while San Francisco's LaMonte Wade Jr. will open the Giants season on the 40-man roster and is one of five members of the team's taxi squad.
Lowe was one of the biggest stars in professional baseball - hitting .269/.362/.554 with 14 home runs and 37 RBI - during the 2020 season in which the Rays finished their season with a World Series appearance.
Coming off a World Series Championship with the Dodgers, Kolarek embarks on his 2021 season with a new team after being traded to the Athletics in the offseason. The lefty reliever allowed just two runs in 19 innings during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, also appearing four times in the postseason.
Wade starts the 2021 season with a new ballclub as well after being traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Giants in the offseason. Wade made his major league debut in 2019 and played in 16 games for the Twins in the shortened 2020 season.
